Your movements and actions will then be translated into the adventure in real-time. This means there’s no delay between what you do in real life and what happens in your adventure. Your inner ear will be perfectly coordinated with your movements, ensuring you won’t experience any discomfort during your Virtual Room experience.
The reasons for this discomfort in virtual reality
Some people sometimes experience a feeling of discomfort during a virtual reality gaming session. They are victims of motion sickness, also known as “kinetosis”. This discomfort can be compared to motion sickness, which affects about 15% of the French population.
Motion sickness can manifest as nausea, headaches, and sweating. It can sometimes persist for a few days for the most sensitive individuals.
In some VR games, the player moves within the virtual reality environment but not physically in real life. This creates a mismatch between the inner ear and the body. The eyes perceive movement, but the inner ear does not feel it. Conversely, during a boat trip, for example, the eyes do not perceive movement, but our inner ear informs our brain that we are moving.
